feat(standalone): device-capability preflight check (0001)
Add a pre-boot "potato check" for the standalone editor: probe the device
against what the KiCad WASM tools actually require and warn (or block, with an
override) before the expensive WASM asset fetch.

- preflight/capabilities.ts: pure, unit-testable probe → CapabilityReport with
stable codes. Fatal: no SharedArrayBuffer/cross-origin-isolation, no
WebAssembly, no Workers+Atomics, no WebGL2. Warn: low deviceMemory, low JS
heap limit (Chromium), few cores, mobile, small screen. Thresholds in one
  tunable const block.
- preflight/BlockingDialog.tsx: reusable modal blocking overlay (no dismiss
except via explicit action) — also for feature 0002's terminal dialog.
- preflight/PreflightGate.tsx: runs the probe once on mount; fatal → blocking
dialog with "Try anyway" (short-circuits the asset fetch); warnings →
dismissible advisory banner with localStorage "don't show again" keyed to the
  exact warning codes.
- ToolPage: wrap WasmTool in PreflightGate so the gate runs before boot.

Optional micro-bench (phase 3) deferred per the spec.

e932530afb ci: Ubicloud is the main CI — retire the Hetzner VM workflows
ci-ubicloud.yml (cherry-picked from the ubicloud-ci experiment branch, green
on run 27375556034: 291 wx + 38 kicad tests in 1h52m) now triggers on main
pushes and replaces ci-full-build.yml and ci.yml. The Hetzner flow needed
create/delete-VM jobs, a PAT + hcloud token, and a shared one-slot
concurrency lock; the Ubicloud runner is a plain runs-on label and finished
faster end-to-end. wasm-opt-bench.yml stays (dispatch-only Hetzner bench
harness, unrelated to CI).

c7e507ced6 ci(ubicloud): copy sysroot headers out of the docker volume for the GAL build
build-gal-webgl-test.sh compiles kicad headers that need boost from
build-wasm/sysroot/include — a host dir on dev machines but inside the
kicad-build-cache docker volume on CI (run 27370316200: ptr_vector.hpp not
found). The Makefile uses only $(SYSROOT)/include, so headers suffice.

94e88a15d9 ci(ubicloud): build the GAL WebGL test app — 29 gal-webgl scenarios 404'd
First wx-suite run (27359020746): 262/262 non-GL tests passed; all 29
gal-webgl failures were galTest.isReady() timeouts because
gal_webgl_test.{js,wasm} are gitignored artifacts built by their own script
(build-gal-webgl-test.sh), which the workflow never ran — the page loaded
but the wasm 404'd. The script self-sources the local emsdk like
build-wasm-test.sh. Those 29 timeouts x3 attempts were also ~1.4h of the
1.7h e2e wall-clock.

282994e2f2 ci(ubicloud): add the wxWidgets e2e suite to the run
Host-side wxUniversal build + wx test apps (build-wxuniversal-wasm.sh /
build-wasm-test.sh, mirroring the dispatch-only ci.yml) followed by
`npm run test` before the KiCad e2e. The wx suite runs on bundled headless
Chromium; several specs use WebGL (gal-webgl.spec.ts), so the chromium
project gains a CI-gated --enable-unsafe-swiftshader launch arg — without
it newer headless Chromium refuses software WebGL on the GPU-less runner.
First time this suite runs on a working CI runner; treat as experimental.

775b657b89 fix(ci): ubicloud docker rejects cpus limit == host CPUs — cap at nproc-1
Run 27330725978 died at container create: "range of CPUs is from 0.01 to
30.00, as there are only 30 CPUs available" with KICAD_DOCKER_CPUS=30 on the
30-vcpu standard-30. The Hetzner box (fresh docker-ce) accepts cpus == nproc;
Ubicloud's preinstalled daemon doesn't. A 29/30 CFS quota is noise.

2e1b261b98 ci: Ubicloud full build + e2e experiment — triggers only on ubicloud-ci
Same recipe as ci-full-build.yml (all 6 tools, Binaryen 130 from source,
pipelined wasm-opt, KiCad e2e) but on ubicloud-standard-30: a plain runs-on
label, so no create/delete-Hetzner-VM jobs and no shared one-slot concurrency
lock. Push-triggered ONLY on this branch (plus workflow_dispatch) so it never
competes with the Hetzner main CI.

e913bebdeb fix(e2e): route pcbnew-family specs to bundled Chromium on CI
The xvfb/WebGL fix (f37ddc4) took CI from 22 to 11 failures (identical on
Hetzner 27343415331 and Ubicloud 27343416511) — everything left is the
pcbnew family, still dying at wasm compile: pcbnew's ~190M debug module
exceeds SpiderMonkey's per-process code budget on x86-64 even with the
baseline-only JIT (the same module compiles on arm64, whose denser code
fits — which is why the local arm64 repro passed). No pref raises that
limit; V8 handles the module fine.

New CI-only 'chromium-ci' project (bundled Chromium, headless, SwiftShader
via --enable-unsafe-swiftshader) carries pcbnew/pcbnew-collab/load-pcb/
load-pcb-probe; the firefox project ignores them on CI. Workflows call the
new test:kicad:ci script which runs both projects. Local test:kicad is
unchanged (firefox everywhere, system Chrome for headed runs).

Validated under x86 emulation (linux/amd64 playwright image on Rosetta):
the pcbnew wizard test passes on chromium-ci in 23s against the fresh
v130-postprocessed 192M module.

380206dcfc fix(build): host postprocess silently no-ops when emsdk tools are stubbed
build-kicad-target.sh swaps emsdk's wasm-opt/wasm-emscripten-finalize for
no-op stubs (real binaries preserved as *.real) so emcc skips in-link
asyncify — intended for the CONTAINER emsdk, but a host-mode run left the
host tools/emsdk stubbed (since Jun 9). The stub fakes --version and exits 0,
so every local build's host-side finalize/asyncify/-O2 "succeeded" while
doing nothing: output wasm shipped non-asyncified and aborts at boot with
"asyncify_stop_unwind is not a function" (and stayed 122M vs the correct
187M). get-wasm-opt.sh and apply-finalize.sh now prefer the *.real binary
whenever it exists, making the resolution immune to a stubbed emsdk.

Found while validating the CI e2e fix: pcbnew.wasm built this morning could
not boot in any browser. Local artifacts built since Jun 9 may need their
postprocess re-run (apply-finalize.sh + apply-asyncify.sh).

f37ddc454d fix(e2e): make the firefox kicad suite pass on GPU-less CI runners
CI runs (Hetzner 27329612719, Ubicloud 27330989479) failed 22/41 identically,
in two buckets, both firefox-environment issues (the suite is firefox-only:
test:kicad -> --project=firefox):

1. No WebGL: headless Firefox can't create ANY GL context on a GPU-less VM
(blocklist bypass still dies with FEATURE_FAILURE_WEBGL_EXHAUSTED_DRIVERS),
so the GAL canvas failed and an error dialog blocked every UI flow. Fix:
run headed under xvfb (GLX + Mesa llvmpipe software GL) with
webgl.force-enabled — workflows now wrap the e2e step in xvfb-run.

2. pcbnew wasm OOM: the ~190M module OOMs Firefox's optimizing wasm JIT at
compile ("InternalError: out of memory") and the app never boots. Fix:
   javascript.options.wasm_optimizingjit=false (baseline-only compile).

Both prefs are CI-gated in playwright-kicad.config.ts; local runs keep stock
behavior. Boot got slower (baseline JIT), so the wizard helpers now wait for
the registry to have actual UI ENTRIES (the registry OBJECT exists pre-boot)
instead of clicking into a fixed 10x500ms window.

Validated in a local docker repro of the CI env (playwright:v1.57.0 image,
no GPU): pl_editor canvas, gerbview wizard+canvas, and pcbnew wizard (on a
properly asyncified 187M module) all pass; before the fix they reproduced the
exact CI signatures.

Known-fail left on CI: zoom-cursor — the zoom-in anchors at ~ -P in headed
Firefox (screen-vs-client coordinate mix-up in the wheel->GAL path, headed
mode only); marked test.fixme(CI) pending a wx-wasm-layer investigation.

f936eb17b0 fix(build): generate lexer headers before embind compile — fresh-build CI failed
pcbnew_embind.cpp pulls kicad_clipboard.h -> pcb_io_kicad_sexpr_parser.h ->
pcb_lexer.h, a header GENERATED during make (make_lexer custom command on the
pcbcommon target). The embind compile runs right after CMake configure, so on
a fresh build dir the header doesn't exist yet — the ephemeral Hetzner main CI
(run 27327303032) died on it in minutes. Local/incremental dirs already had the
header, which is why 9dbfddc's -I${KICAD_BUILD}/common alone seemed sufficient.

Pre-build pcbcommon before compiling the bindings: make resolves the real
dependency graph (no duplicated lexer-generator args), the app target needs
pcbcommon anyway so total build time is unchanged, and incrementally it's a
no-op. Verified by deleting pcb_lexer.h/pcb_keywords.cpp/pcbnew_embind.o inside
the docker build-cache volume and rebuilding: pre-build regenerates the header
before the embind compile succeeds.

ce9e569fd9 docs: CI build perf findings + parked wasm-exceptions experiment
- ci-build-slowness-findings.md: the full investigation log — measured
phase breakdowns of the 4h05m baseline, the v121 lock convoy, the
badly-built official Binaryen Linux tarballs (4-13x slow asyncify),
allocator/THP/arm64 dead ends, and the validated 1h14m41s result.
- wasm-exceptions-experiment.md: -fwasm-exceptions would shrink the
asyncify set at the root (pcbnew 338 MB -> 92 MB raw) but is blocked
by an LLVM br_table codegen bug in emscripten 4.0.2; full resume
  recipe + plumbing patch included.

6953fbd894 ci: ephemeral Hetzner CI — full build + e2e on main push, all else dispatch-only
Per run, a fresh ccx53 VM is created (Cyclenerd/hcloud-github-runner),
builds + tests run on it, and it is always torn down — no persistent
infra, no lingering cost. Secrets: HCLOUD_TOKEN, HETZNER_RUNNER_PAT.

- ci-full-build.yml: the main-branch CI and the only push-triggered
workflow. Full build of all 6 tools (pipelined wasm-opt, self-built
  Binaryen 130, ~1h15m) + KiCad e2e; docs-only pushes excluded via
  paths-ignore.
- ci.yml (eeschema-only smoke) and wasm-opt-bench.yml (config sweeps):
workflow_dispatch-only, since every push-run costs a paid VM.
- Shared one-Hetzner-slot concurrency group across the workflows.

680eb9dc15 perf(build): 4h05m -> 1h15m full CI build — docker caps, pipelined wasm-opt, Binaryen 130
Three orchestration fixes, validated end-to-end on the Hetzner ccx53
(run 27280051992, 1h14m41s vs 4h05m baseline, e2e identical):

- docker-compose CPU/memory caps were hardcoded to dev-Mac defaults
  (10 CPUs / 32G); now env-tunable via KICAD_DOCKER_CPUS/KICAD_DOCKER_MEM
(CI exports nproc/110G — the 32-core runner was compiling on 10 cores).
- docker/build.sh: split build_app into compile_app (container) +
  postprocess_app (host-side dyncall shims + finalize + asyncify + -O2)
and added KICAD_PIPELINE=1 mode that overlaps each tool's host-side
wasm-opt with the next tool's container compile (max 2 concurrent
postprocesses — pcbnew -O2 peaks ~34G RSS). Also: comma-separated app
  lists for cheap pipeline repros.
- get-wasm-opt.sh: Binaryen default 121 -> 130 (fixes the v121 -O2 lock
convoy, ~9x) and BINARYEN_BUILD_FROM_SOURCE=1 support: the official
x86_64-linux release tarballs (Alpine/musl, no LTO, assertions on) run
asyncify 4x slower than a stock gcc -O3+LTO build with sha256-identical
output; self-build takes ~5 min and is instantly repaid.

3978bf5ff1 feat(site): add favicon.ico + apple-touch-icon so the tab icon renders
Chrome also fires an implicit request for /favicon.ico; with only an SVG

apple-touch-icon — both derived from the jar art already embedded in
favicon.svg — and declare the full icon set (ico + svg + apple-touch) in

7629ab978d test(e2e): fix wx suite — header deps, port pinning, drop legacy-GL tests, wx+pthread worker fix
Suite went 64 failed → 291 passed / 0 failed:
- Makefile.wasm: compile with -MMD -MP and include .d files — stale objects
relinked against a newer wx lib crashed apps at startup with "function
signature mismatch" after any header/vtable change
- playwright(.coroutine).config.ts: pin the server port for the whole run
(resolvePort from playwright-kicad.config.ts); the 60s freshness window made
workers restarted after a failure rotate to a dead port (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
  cascade across ~50 tests)
- drop legacy-GL testing: KiCad renders via WebGL GAL (gal-webgl.spec.ts);
  remove minimal_test's OpenGL tab/GLTestCanvas, opengl.spec.ts, GL z-order
describes, -sLEGACY_GL_EMULATION + gl_immediate_shim.js from the test build,
  and the orphaned GL baselines
- coroutine-pthread repro apps join the `all` target (make clean used to delete
them while all never rebuilt them); clean no longer eats checked-in JS like

refactor(web): split into GPL standalone editor + thin reference backend
Reduce web/ to a single generic editor app plus a minimal example backend,
moving all project-specific/app code out to the closed root repo:

- apps/frontend -> standalone (@pcbjam/standalone): the GPL editor. Strips the
  project-management UI (ProjectsPage/ProjectDetailPage/UploadDropzone and the
write half of lib/api.ts). WasmTool now takes fetchBytes + assetBaseUrl as
injected props (decoupled from the API client) so it can be driven by either
a backend or a local folder. New HomePage (local-folder loader + backend
project list) and read-only ProjectView. BroadcastChannel collab unchanged.
- backend (@pcbjam/backend-example): thin Fastify+ts-rest reference impl of the
@pcbjam/shared contract — serves a single project off the local filesystem
  (PROJECT_DIR), no DB/auth/uploads.
- packages/contract -> web/pcbjam-shared (git submodule, MIT @pcbjam/shared).
- Remove apps/server, packages/storage, packages/contract, docker-compose
(server + storage move to the closed root repo; preserved via subtree
branches). Rewrite pnpm-workspace/turbo/.env for the frontend-only layout.
- Add tests/fixtures/demo so the editor + example backend run out of the box.

Standalone typechecks + builds; backend serves the contract end-to-end.

feat(pcbnew): collab adds board text natively (PCB_TEXT) incl. justification
A board-level graphic text (Place→Text) lands in Drawings() and would otherwise hit the
same asyncify-fragile (kicad_pcb …) envelope-blob wall as via/zone on add. So PCB_TEXT
reconstructs NATIVELY: itemToJson emits size/thickness/angle plus horizontal & vertical
justification, mirror, and bold/italic (the text string was already emitted for any
EDA_TEXT); makeItem builds a fresh PCB_TEXT and restores all of them. flushDiff skips the
blob for PCB_TEXT_T. Footprint child text is unaffected — it syncs by move, and its add
is carried by the footprint blob.

Justification matters: it anchors the glyphs relative to the text POSITION, so without it
a left-justified text reconstructed centered on the peer and rendered visibly offset even
though GetPosition() matched (which is why the anchor-only headless check missed it).

Verified two-tab in the real app: a left/bottom-justified bold text added in tab A
reconstructs in tab B at the exact position with matching justification + string. Headless:
a board-text round-trip add test (sample text is left/bottom-justified) asserts the
position AND that hjust/vjust/text round-trip. 7 passed, 1 skipped, 0 aborts.

9dbfddc527
feat(pcbnew): collab adds footprints (s-expr blob) + vias/zones (native)
Footprint add reconstructs from the bare `(footprint …)` s-expr clipboard blob via
CLIPBOARD_IO (SetWriter/SetReader redirect it to a string for headless/wasm). The
non-footprint `(kicad_pcb …)` envelope parse (parseBOARD) is asyncify-fragile in wasm
— commit.Add of an envelope-parsed item silently stages nothing and subsequent virtual
dispatch traps ("index out of bounds"), the same wall that deferred the eeschema symbol
blob — so vias and zones reconstruct NATIVELY instead: itemToJson emits drill/layer-pair
for a PCB_VIA and the outline polygon for a ZONE, and makeItem builds a fresh PCB_VIA /
ZONE. flushDiff attaches the blob only to types that need it (footprints/board graphics);
tracks/vias/zones skip it. Includes the dangling-parent fix for the envelope path
(SetParent before delete) which footprints don't hit.

Build: kicad_clipboard.h pulls in the generated pcb_lexer.h (emitted into the common
build subdir by make_lexer) — added -I${KICAD_BUILD}/common to the embind include path.

Tests: sample board gains a via + zone; snapshot asserts their native fields are emitted,
and three round-trip add tests (footprint via blob, via/zone native) delete then re-add
each by uuid and confirm it returns at the same position. 6 passed, 1 skipped, 0 aborts.

fix(pcbnew): collab syncs footprint silkscreen text; un-no-op test-move helper
Bug 1 — footprint child text now syncs. forEachTopItem also visits each footprint's
TEXT children by their own uuid (GetFields() PCB_FIELDs + GraphicalItems() PCB_TEXT),
so moving a silkscreen reference/value/user text — which leaves the footprint origin
unchanged — produces a diff. Apply needed only a guard: the removed loop skips items
with a parent footprint (a footprint delete cascades to its children, so don't
double-remove). ResolveItem already resolves child uuids and BOARD_COMMIT::undoLevelItem
rolls a child Modify up to the footprint, so Modify+SetPosition (in the existing
COROUTINE) just works. itemToJson now carries text for EDA_TEXT items.

Bug 2 — kicadCollabTestMoveFirst no longer no-ops. Its CallAfter now runs the move
inside a COROUTINE fiber (like doApply) so the virtual BOARD_ITEM::Move dispatches
instead of asyncify-no-opping.

Tests: sample board gains a footprint with a Reference field + user fp_text; snapshot
test asserts the footprint and both text children are emitted by uuid; a new test
moves each child by uuid and asserts the footprint origin stays put. 3 pass, 1 skipped.
Verified two-tab in the real app: C1's reference text move syncs A->B, no footprint moves.

feat(pcbnew): Yjs collab bridge — snapshot/diff emit + BOARD_COMMIT apply (move/delete/track-add), verified two-tab in real app
pcbnew's half of the unified Yjs collab bridge (4th tool; yjs-bridge commit 4),
a near-verbatim port of the eeschema design. Root-repo only — kicad/wxwidgets
submodules untouched.

- wasm/bindings/pcbnew_embind.cpp: BOARD_LISTENER trigger + post-settle snapshot
diff emit; BOARD_COMMIT apply inside a CallAfter + COROUTINE fiber (so a new
item's GAL view->Add dispatches correctly). Move/delete sync for any top-level
item by uuid; native PCB_TRACK add. Footprint/via/zone add deferred.
- WasmTool.tsx: add pcbnew to COLLAB_TOOLS.
- tests/apps/kicad/pcbnew-collab.html: seeded (wizard-free) harness, leaving
pcbnew.html untouched for its wizard test.
- tests/kicad/pcbnew-collab.spec.ts: snapshot + apply(move/remove/add) — 2 pass,
  two-tab skipped headless.

Verified two-tab in the real web app: footprint move applies + syncs A->B.

c8c09cc3d7 fix(site): close mobile menu when a nav item is tapped
The CSS-only hamburger (checkbox toggle) only reset on astro:page-load, which fires for real navigations (Blog) but not for same-page anchor links (How it works / Open & yours / Join the waitlist) that scroll without navigating — so the menu stayed open after tapping them. Add a one-time delegated click handler on the nav that unchecks the toggle on any link tap. Items stay identical to desktop; scrolling unchanged.

37a1df2315 fix(site): wire Resend waitlist via astro:env, fix TS errors + deprecations
- Move secrets to Astro's typed astro:env/server (schema in astro.config.mjs);
removes process.env usage and the 3 TS2580 "Cannot find name 'process'" errors
  without adding @types/node.
- Replace deprecated contacts.create({ audienceId }) with segments: [{ id }]
  (env var RESEND_AUDIENCE_ID -> RESEND_SEGMENT_ID).
- Check the { error } return on both Resend calls: contact add is best-effort
(non-fatal); a failed confirmation send now returns 502 instead of a false 200.
- Type the waitlist fetch result in WaitlistForm.astro.
- Add @astrojs/check + typescript devDeps and an `npm run check` script.

Verified: npm run check (0 errors), npm run build, secret not inlined into the
build output, and a runtime smoke test of the validation/honeypot/GET paths.

34ae85b2b5 fix(site): mobile waitlist input height, "Demo coming soon" panel, blog cleanup
- WaitlistForm: reset the input's flex when the form stacks — the 16rem
flex-basis was applying to the height in column layout (256px-tall input).
- DemoVideo: add a comingSoon mode that shows a big "Demo coming soon" panel
instead of the internal PRODUCE placeholder; enable it in the hero and the
  multiplayer section.
- Blog: retitle the post to "Porting KiCad's Graphics to WebGL with Claude"
(clean slug), set body/description to "Coming soon.", and drop the
placeholder text from the blog index.

735d8a48ee feat(site): 🫙 PCBJam landing revisions — branding, accuracy, positioning graphic
Founder review pass on the landing page, plus commit the landing-page
research/spec docs under features/lp.

Branding & assets:
- New PCBJam mark: convert the jam-jar image to favicon.svg (trimmed, rounded
tile) and use it in the browser tab, header, and footer.
- Footer "Built by": flower mark + "Emergence Engineering" in white Oswald (the
blog's title font, self-hosted via @fontsource) so it's legible on dark.
- Produce the positioning quadrant graphic (public/graphics) and drop the placeholder.

Copy / accuracy:
- Remove header GitHub link; point "Built by EE" + footer "About" to
  emergence-engineering.com; Built-by CTA -> mailto:contact@emergence-engineering.com.
- Replace the wrong testimonial with Greg Detre's real quote from EE's site.
- Drop blog icons from Multiplayer/Pillars/How-it-works; add "Coming soon" to
  live-cursors & pin-comment; drop the hard-coded Yjs mention.
- Rework monetization to free+local / paid cloud-sync; remove "no metered AI",
"no per-seat toll", and the Flux price claim; soften the AI section.
- Reframe waitlist copy (incl. confirmation email) to newsletter + early access.

Fixes:
- Offset only #waitlist for the sticky header (scroll-margin-top); section
  anchors keep their original behavior.

Docs:
- Commit features/lp (copy spec, brand guide, competitive research) via force-add
  over the /features/ gitignore.

7f9dbdd068 feat(site): 🛬 PCBJam landing page — waitlist, sections, Tailwind
Replace the placeholder homepage with the PCBJam waitlist conversion page
(13 sections from the copy spec), shared chrome, and a real email-capture
backend, keeping the site zero-runtime-JS / zero-web-font.

- Tailwind v4 via @tailwindcss/postcss (the Vite plugin breaks on Astro 6
rolldown-vite); Preflight skipped; brand tokens in :root + @theme inline.
- Waitlist: /api/waitlist serverless route (prerender=false) + Resend, with
dual JSON/303 responses; WaitlistForm progressive enhancement bound on
astro:page-load (survives ClientRouter swaps); honeypot + validation.
- New components (Icon, Placeholder, DemoVideo, SectionBand, Chip, EECredit,
StatBar, Pillar, Step, CheckItem, WaitlistForm) + 13 section components.
- Redesigned Header (sticky, mobile menu, CTA) + 4-col Footer (KiCad
attribution); BaseLayout gains full-bleed mode + OG/canonical meta.
- Assets scaffolded with marked placeholders; EE/generic/client SVGs copied.

d55a8a0afa feat(site): 🚀 add Astro marketing/content site
Standalone Astro 6 site in /site (decoupled from the /web app monorepo):
landing page, /blog with one post (Content Layer), and terms/privacy/cookie
legal pages. Pure Astro, server-rendered to static HTML.

- Static by default via @astrojs/vercel adapter; any route can opt into SSR
with `export const prerender = false` (deploys as a Vercel Function).
- SPA-style navigation with <ClientRouter />, transition:persist on the header
(no icon flash), and viewport prefetch — ~6 KB gzip JS, no React.
- Deploy on Vercel by setting Root Directory to 'site' (no vercel.json needed).

See site/README.md for dev and deploy instructions.
