Chrome start-hidden default is now startsChromeHidden(): phones (UA-CH),
tablets (coarse primary pointer at any width), and narrow windows (<=900px,
any pointer). isMobileMode() drops its narrow-viewport requirement so
tablets get the full mobile treatment (touch shim, preflight suppression);
touch laptops stay desktop (fine primary pointer). capabilities.ts probe
kept in sync. ?mobile= still overrides both ways.

Vercel was doing the apex->www 308 itself (its "redirect to www" project
setting), so nothing about Cloudflare requires a redirect — the behaviour
just disappears with Vercel. Rather than rebuild it with a zone Redirect
Rule plus a proxied placeholder record, attach pcbjam.com as a SECOND
custom domain on pcbjam-site. Both hosts serve the site and the pages
already emit canonical=www, which is what consolidates them for search.
That drops the riskiest artefact in the migration. Redirect Rules are
zone-scoped and run BEFORE Workers/Pages routing, so a `contains` match
instead of `eq` would 308 app./editor./demo./api. to www — breaking the
product API, not just a marketing page. The sibling hosts are also the
reason this was worth avoiding rather than merely guarding.
APEX_MODE (lib/common.sh) selects the topology, defaulting to `serve`.
08-verify-prod.sh now dispatches through assert_apex: in serve mode it
requires the apex to answer 200 with no hop, to not be a stale Vercel
response, to declare canonical=www, and to expose /api/waitlist. The
`redirect` mode and 07's rules/apex phases are kept for the alternative.
08 also checks the attached domains via wrangler rather than the REST API,
so the whole serve-mode path needs only `wrangler login` — no zone scopes
at all.
Comments that explained themselves via the old redirect are corrected:
astro.config.mjs, web/standalone/src/lib/config.ts and
scripts/deploy/build-demo.mjs. The demo keeps posting to www — not because
the apex redirects, but because a CORS preflight cannot follow one, so
aiming at a host that might ever redirect is a latent breakage.

Comments showed the author's SLUG — which doubles as their personal scope
— instead of their name, because WasmTool passed presenceUser().id where
.name already existed.
- denormalize authorName/authorEmail onto each comment message + thread at
write time, so a comment still reads correctly when its author is
offline, renamed, or gone. `author` stays the SLUG: colorFor() and the
"is this mine?" ownership checks compare it. Legacy comments fall back.
- session-identity keeps the email it was already fetching and discarding.
Overlay menu: restyle + reorganise into labelled sections (People /
Document / Comments / View) over one shared row shape, so sections can't
drift apart again.
- comments: four bare icons -> labelled rows (Add comment / Show list with
count / Hide pins). The nested expand toggle is gone: the section IS the
group, so it was a collapsible inside a collapsible.
- presence: facepile of initials -> one row per person with an explicit
Follow/Stop. The separate "Following X" banner is deleted; that state now
lives on the person's own row, so there is nothing to keep in sync.
- SourceChip gains a `muted` tone for known-dark surfaces; its solid
variant is untouched for the light project pages that share it.
Fixes a regression the redesign introduced: the taller panel (z-50) covered
the comment popover (z-40), and since a popover can be opened FROM the
menu's thread list, the menu swallowed clicks on the popover it had just
spawned — delete was unreachable. Popover now z-[60].

- defaultKicadPro() template + synthesizeProjectFile() writes a minimal
<stem>.kicad_pro into MEMFS when a board/schematic opens without one, so KiCad
runs a real project (self-heals legacy fileless projects).
- NewFileDialog creates the .kicad_pro companion alongside a new board/schematic.
- sibling-restage.ts: pcbnew sessions subscribe to sibling .kicad_sch collab rooms
as invisible observers and re-stage MEMFS on update (restageFile extracted from
syncProjectToMemfs), so a sync reads live schematic data, not the boot snapshot.
- tests/kicad/project-sync.spec.ts (2 e2e) + sibling-restage.test.ts (5 unit).
- Bump kicad pointer (SCH-from-PCB sync gate + hidden player + .kicad_pro save hook).

presenceUser()/userSlug() now resolve the authenticated user: a plain
/api/me fetch (GPL no-link rule — no closed contract import) races the WASM
boot and is awaited before presence/comments bind. `?user=`/`?libowner=`
overrides are gated behind VITE_ALLOW_USER_OVERRIDE=1 (dev script + e2e
harnesses set it; prod builds never do). Anonymous/example-backend sessions
keep the pre-auth slug fallback. Fixes prod's empty presence (everyone was
"local-user", deduped as own tabs) and comment authorship in one move.

VITE_APP_URL (build-editor --app-base, set to app.pcbjam.com in release CI)
turns on a redirect gate in App: home, project overview and mgmt-only paths
bounce to the mgmt app preserving path+search; tool boots, file deep-links,
lib editors and the @local pseudo-scope stay local. Unset (dev/demo) keeps
today's behavior. Policy is a pure helper (lib/redirect.ts) + vitest table.

Tools → "Switch to PCB Editor" in a project with no .kicad_pcb (e.g. created
from a lone schematic) did nothing: the nav hook found no file for the target
tool and returned false. Now a session that can persist (ToolPage passes the
new createFile prop) writes the templated counterpart via
createProjectFileIfMissing — no download fallback, and it re-checks existence
so a collaborator's file is never clobbered — then navigates to it, matching
native KiCad (pcbnew opens a new board at the derived path). Sessions that
can't persist (read-only viewers, scratch/local-folder) keep the logged no-op.
Also latch the quit dispatcher off before every deliberate tool-switch
navigation (markDeliberateNavigation): the wx port's UnloadCallback runs on
BEFOREUNLOAD and closes the top frame the moment the navigation starts, so
the quit hook history.back()'d over the in-flight navigation — the pagehide
latch is too late (it only fires at commit time).
e2e: new tests/web/tool-switch-missing-file.spec.ts reproduces the flow via a
browser-local (IDB) project created from the home page; playwright-web config
gains VITE_LOCAL_PROJECTS=idb and derives STANDALONE_PORT/CORS_ORIGIN from
WEB_APP_URL (runs the suite past a squatted :3048); both vars declared in
web/turbo.json globalEnv (turbo strict-env strips undeclared vars). Includes
the previously-uncommitted tool-switch spec repairs (URL grammar + z-30
boot-overlay wait).

All pcbjam properties now load the same new-format Plausible script
(https://plausible.io/js/pa-KjNS9YmidydULZTstsjRg.js — one dashboard,
segment by hostname) instead of per-domain data-domain sites:
- site: replace Vercel Analytics with the pa- snippet in BaseLayout
(is:inline, prod-only, crossorigin="anonymous" for the COEP
require-corp routes in vercel.json); drop @vercel/analytics dep.
Legal pages (cookies/privacy) rewritten Vercel -> Plausible.
- standalone: initAnalytics() rewritten for the new script format
(queue shim + plausible.init(), async, no data-domain). The gate is
now VITE_PLAUSIBLE_SRC (script URL, deploy-time opt-in) — unset means
no tracking, so dev checkouts and third-party GPL builds stay clean.
VITE_PLAUSIBLE_DOMAIN is gone.
- deploy: build-demo/build-editor --plausible now takes the script URL;
release.yml/deploy-demo.yml hardcode the (public) pa- URL, so the
repo Actions variable PLAUSIBLE_DOMAIN is no longer used.
Verified: standalone tsc + vite build (pa- URL present with env, absent
without, crossOrigin kept); astro build has the snippet on all layout
pages and no vercel/insights references; astro dev stays untracked.

synced-source subscribes to its SyncStack: remote changes (self-save echoes
consumed via a selfPushed flag) debounce per kind into kicadLibsReload — a
new embind export (pcbjam_libs_reload.h, all three TUs) that drops the lib's
plugin cache (LIBRARY_MANAGER::ReloadLibraryEntry), reloads it, and mails
MAIL_RELOAD_LIB with the nickname so the symbol tree force-refreshes (the
plugin's modify hash is a pinned constant, so a plain sync would skip it).
After the reload, kicadLibsSymbolUsage (new eeschema embind: placed
SCH_SYMBOL count across unique screens) gates LIB_ITEM_UPDATED_EVENT, and
WasmTool shows an amber toast when a PLACED symbol changed — placed copies
keep the previous version until updated from the library.
syncedScopeLibsSource gives PROJECT sessions the synced source under
VITE_LIBS_SOURCE=synced (remote contract for lib listing/createLib, lazy
per-lib SyncStacks for item ops/presync) so realtime reaches open
schematics; previously project sessions silently fell back to the per-item
remote source. Unit tests cover reload debounce, self-echo skip, per-kind
routing, usage-gated event, and the no-Module no-op.
Bumps kicad (MAIL_RELOAD_LIB force-refresh payload).

Chrome visibility is now a runtime toggle on any device instead of being
device-wired: mobile defaults to canvas-only, desktop to full UI, and the
floating top-right button (or Figma's Cmd/Ctrl+\ chord — free in KiCad,
only bare \ is bound) flips between them live.
- chrome-visibility.ts: module-global store (default isMobileMode(),
session-only) + pure hotkey matcher (rejects AltGr backslash + repeats)
- WasmTool: capture-phase hotkey (stopped before the wx layer), floating
toggle pill (matches the comment FAB design), useLayoutEffect apply with
sync first call + retry; overlays follow the toggle, capability-gated on
the kicad_editor bundle's kicadSetChrome export
- boot.ts mobile opt now installs touch gestures only
- kicadSetChrome: frame-keyed hide-time snapshot so restore re-shows ONLY
what hide took away (blanket Show(true) surfaced KiCad's default-hidden
Search/Properties/Net-Inspector panes); toolbars-only fallback otherwise
- tests: chrome-toggle.spec.ts (desktop hide/restore + geometric
restore-exactness ±3px), mobile toggle round-trip, 12 new unit tests,
test:web:mobile npm script

On a mobile device (or ?mobile=1) the editors run canvas-only with touch
gestures driving the view:
- touch-gestures.ts: pure recognizer (unit-tested) + DOM shim installed in
boot preRun — one-finger drag → synthetic middle-drag (pan), pinch →
synthetic wheel at the centroid (zoom-to-cursor), tap → left click.
preRun registration order is what lets stopImmediatePropagation suppress
the wx layer's single-finger→LEFT-drag touch mapping.
- kicadSetChrome(bool) embind: hides all AUI panes except DrawFrame + the
menubar/status bar via generic wx APIs (kicad fork untouched); boot polls
it after runtime init. Pairs with the wxwidgets IsShown layout fix.
- mobile-mode.ts: ?mobile=1/0 override or UA-CH/coarse-pointer autodetect;
shell hides its overlays and the inherent-to-mobile preflight warnings.
- e2e: mobile-chromium project (Pixel 7) + 4 specs (chrome-less, tap,
pinch, pan) with screenshot-invertibility assertions; also fixes
tool-switch.spec's stale pre-scope-refactor URLs (was broken on main).

Library warm-up and the per-item fallback fat-load now run through a
shared asyncMap helper (counting semaphore, 8 in flight): the CDN
presync's hand-rolled 6-worker pool is replaced and the previously
fully-serial listItems+getItemBody fallback is parallelized (order
preserved).
The load-screen sync line stops flashing: progress reports on lib
COMPLETION only (no "current lib" — with 8 in flight there isn't one),
the label is a fixed prefix ("Syncing symbol libraries — ") and the
counter is space-padded to the total's width in font-mono +
whitespace-pre, so 2→3 digit growth doesn't shift the text. Same
padding for the fat-load overlay's "x / y libraries" line.
Verified in demo mode against the live R2 CDN: 7-8 overlapping
manifest/bundle requests, 222 cold symbol libs in a few seconds.

Parametrizes every visual knob of the presence overlay so we can pick the
shipped look live, then wire the winners into the defaults:
- collab_presence_style.h: shared STYLE struct + drawing (now used by BOTH
editor TUs — no more duplicated overlay code): selection shape (rect /
corner brackets / underline / rounded rect / filled-only), border width +
alpha, infill alpha, padding, corner radius; name tag show/size/chip-
background/inside-outside/top-bottom/start-end-center/offset; cursor shape
(cross / pointer / circle+dot), size/width/alpha + label knobs; fixed-color
and palette-by-name-hash overrides (try palettes without changing what
senders publish); pin radius/ring/alphas. Defaults == shipped look.
- kicadCollabSetStyle(json) live-patch export + kicadCollabTestListItems(n)
(real KIIDs for synthetic previews); merged dispatch; pins now carry the
author name so palette overrides recolor them consistently.
- PresenceTuner.tsx: floating dev panel (env-gated, tree-shaken otherwise) —
grouped sliders/selects, demo peers+pins injection for SOLO tuning,
localStorage persistence across reloads, Copy JSON export, reset.

their own; BroadcastChannel gets a sibling-channel relay via awareness-bc.ts)

deduped peers() roster, setCursor/setSelection for P2, pagehide fast removal
- PresenceRoster.tsx + WasmTool wiring: facepile chip next to SourceChip;
eeschema rebinds per active sheet (sheet-manager ActiveSheet now carries the
room's provider); config presenceUser() = slug + colorForUser
- new dep y-protocols; unit tests (presence.test.ts) + e2e
tests/web/presence-roster.spec.ts (two tabs, verified vs real partykit)

Backends with real auth (session cookies) need credentials:'include' on the
editor's cross-origin fetches — ts-rest clients, project file bytes/upload,
drift keepalive, lib item GET/PUT, sync-stack resolve. Cookie-less setups are
unaffected (the thin identity headers still ride along and same-site Lax
cookies simply don't exist). CDN/static-gallery fetches stay credential-less
(wildcard CORS rejects credentialed requests). The example backend's CORS now
sends allow-credentials — origin reflection was already exact, so this only
lets browsers accept those responses.

The demo (demo.pcbjam.com) cross-posts the waitlist to the marketing site's
serverless endpoint. It targeted the apex pcbjam.com, which 308-redirects to
www on Vercel; a CORS preflight can't follow redirects, so the OPTIONS failed
("Redirect is not allowed for a preflight request") and the POST never landed.
Point the waitlist target at the canonical www host. www.pcbjam.com already
returns 204 with access-control-allow-origin: https://demo.pcbjam.com, so the
preflight passes. Landing/version-badge link stays on the apex.

- Waitlist signup form on the home page (between Projects and Tools),
cross-posting to the landing site's /api/waitlist (CORS + OPTIONS added there,
gated by WAITLIST_ALLOWED_ORIGINS).
- Version badge gains a pcbjam.com landing-page link (VITE_LANDING_URL).
- Optional Plausible analytics from VITE_PLAUSIBLE_DOMAIN (off by default);
wired into build-demo + both deploy workflows via vars.PLAUSIBLE_DOMAIN.
- Opening a read-only gallery project auto-"moves to local": it forks into a
writable browser-local project at the same slug, shadowing the gallery row.
- Project + local-folder views use the same iconed tool launcher (ToolGrid)
and a navigable directory FileTree instead of a flat file list.
- Boot overlay shows real wasm download progress (Module.instantiateWasm +
streaming byte counter) and a "taking too long" state after 60s.
- Home Libraries section lists the active libs source (the read-only R2/CDN
set in the demo) with a name filter; useLibs now reads libsSourceConfig.

Backendless, read-only LibsSource that serves the full default symbol+footprint set from versioned immutable CDN snapshots. Each lib is an r2-idb-sync static origin opened as a one-layer SyncStack (1 bundle cold, 0 fetches warm, IDB-cached, offline) — the layer descriptor is built locally from lib id + tag, no resolve endpoint in the loop.
Wired via VITE_LIBS_SOURCE=cdn + VITE_LIBS_MANIFEST_URL; build-demo gains --lib-tag (points the demo at libs/kicad/<tag>/manifest.json; omitted keeps offline static). Unit-tested against a fake CDN built with the real encodeBundle/sha256Hex codecs, pinning the publish format.
Next: publish-libs.mjs (C1.2) emits this format over the full set; CI keyed by lib tag (C1.3).

Mirrors the closed app: create a templated file then open it, so you always edit a real file that saves back.
- lib/new-file.ts: minimal valid KiCad templates (pcbnew/eeschema/pl_editor, from the e2e fixtures) + document-tool helpers.
- NewFileDialog: in-project mode (file name) and home mode (pick/create a browser-local project + file name); writes via the active source uploadFileBytes (local IDB or remote-rw backend), then opens by path.
- HomePage: a document tool from the grid (local store on) opens the dialog instead of booting a throwaway blank doc.
- ProjectView: project-centric New-file row (writable projects) + Save-a-copy-to-browser fork for read-only gallery projects (copies into editable IDB), alongside files/export.
Also replaces a stray NUL byte that had been written into idb-project-store.ts in place of a space (made the file parse as binary) with an explicit unicode escape for the key separator (NUL, sorts below every slug char so project key ranges cannot collide) and the range upper bound. Runtime behavior unchanged.

Loading a folder now imports a COPY into a browser-local IndexedDB project with
its own /p/:slug URL (original disk files untouched): edits persist to IDB across
visits, and the project exports via Download .zip or per-file. Gated by
VITE_LOCAL_PROJECTS=idb (on for the demo; off keeps the File System Access
write-back flow), so it's configurable per deployment.
Modular, swappable project sources behind the shared ProjectSource interface,
each self-describing via a SourceDescriptor whose kind is shown verbatim in the
UI — "Local (this browser)", "Remote · read-only", "Remote · editable" — on the
home page, the project view, and inside the editor, so the user always knows
whether/how Save persists:
- remote → REST backend (remote-rw)
- static → CDN gallery (remote-ro), saves download
- local (new) → idbProjectStore, writable IDB store
A composite layers the local store over the configured remote/gallery source,
routing per slug so imported/saved projects and the gallery share one namespace.
New, dependency-free (matching sync-client's raw-IDB ethos):
- lib/idb-project-store.ts raw IndexedDB store + create/delete/rename/export
- lib/zip.ts store-only ZIP writer (verified via system unzip)
- lib/import-folder.ts FSA/webkitdirectory folder → in-memory bytes
- lib/project-source-shared.ts source descriptors + deterministic uuid
- components/SourceChip, components/LocalProjectsSection
Home lists local projects (open/export/rename/delete). Verified: typecheck,
project-source tests, prod build, and IDB key-range project isolation in-browser
(prefix-colliding slugs don't leak).

A small fixed bottom-right overlay (VersionBadge) shown app-wide — on the home
page AND inside the loaded editor — surfacing this build's release tag and a
link to the source. The tag links to the exact commit when known (the pcbjam
commit pins the kicad + wxwidgets submodule revisions → our GPLv3
corresponding-source pointer, mirroring site Footer's BUILD_SHA), else the tag's
release page, else the repo root.
build-demo.mjs injects VITE_APP_TAG / VITE_GIT_SHA / VITE_REPO_URL (new --repo
flag, defaults to github.com/emergence-engineering/pcbjam).

Add a deep-linkable, reload-safe route /l/<libId>/<tool> (LibToolPage) that boots
the editor scoped to one backend library; the home page's lib chips become
anchors to it (full nav → clean Emscripten). Local lib FILES stay in-place
(bytes can't be URL-addressed).
Fix empty lib trees against a registry server: fileless/lib-scoped launches use
the placeholder projectId "local", which was sent as x-pcbjam-project — the
closed server then scoped its (0005 mirror) lib resolution to a non-existent
project and returned nothing. Suppress the project header for "local"; real
backend projects keep sending their uuid and keep project-scoped resolution.

Rework HomePage into KiCad-launcher-style zones: local file-load, a Tools grid,
backend projects, and a backend libraries listing (useLibs over the shared
listLibs). The Tools grid shows all seven tools in KiCad's standalone order
(Schematic/Symbol/PCB/Footprint editors, Gerber Viewer, Calculator, Drawing
Sheet); clicking a tool or a library launches the editor with no project
(launchedTool → WasmTool slug=local) — file-less editors browse backend libs,
document editors open blank. Harden the web e2e global-setup to assert the
self-provisioned origin libs (Device, Resistor_SMD) are present, failing fast.

standalone: LibsSource abstraction (remote over the contract + static fallback),
generic window.kicadLibs provider, sym-lib-table generated from the backend's

- WasmTool: hard cutover to startKicadCollab (gates on
kicadCollabSnapshotItems; scalar reconciler no longer runs in the app)
- file-seed (ysync 0005 tie-in): empty rooms are seeded from the opened
file via fileToDoc/docToY (meta+layout+items — file recoverable from the
Y.Doc alone); populated rooms still adopt (seed-once unchanged)
- binding: gate UP applies until seed() — the provider's initial state
sync otherwise streams the full doc into an editor that already holds
the file (trapped eeschema's paste path in the real app)
- pcbnew blobForItem: footprints Format a uuid-corrected copy directly —
SaveSelection's copy regenerated mandatory-field uuids (FOOTPRINT copy
ctor assigns into fresh fields), breaking wire identity (rebuild)
- roundtrip.spec on the v2 items wire; new passing pcbnew
footprint-containment round trip (the 0004 containment win); full
fixture stays fixme on the tracked envelope-parse limit
- real-app two-tab emit verified for eeschema + pcbnew (see 0008 doc)
Full kicad suite: 45 passed, 3 skipped (known), 0 failed.

Reduce web/ to a single generic editor app plus a minimal example backend,
moving all project-specific/app code out to the closed root repo:
- apps/frontend -> standalone (@pcbjam/standalone): the GPL editor. Strips the
project-management UI (ProjectsPage/ProjectDetailPage/UploadDropzone and the
write half of lib/api.ts). WasmTool now takes fetchBytes + assetBaseUrl as
injected props (decoupled from the API client) so it can be driven by either
a backend or a local folder. New HomePage (local-folder loader + backend
project list) and read-only ProjectView. BroadcastChannel collab unchanged.
- backend (@pcbjam/backend-example): thin Fastify+ts-rest reference impl of the
@pcbjam/shared contract — serves a single project off the local filesystem
(PROJECT_DIR), no DB/auth/uploads.
- packages/contract -> web/pcbjam-shared (git submodule, MIT @pcbjam/shared).
- Remove apps/server, packages/storage, packages/contract, docker-compose
(server + storage move to the closed root repo; preserved via subtree
branches). Rewrite pnpm-workspace/turbo/.env for the frontend-only layout.
- Add tests/fixtures/demo so the editor + example backend run out of the box.
Standalone typechecks + builds; backend serves the contract end-to-end.
